Newly discovered census records:
- 1840 census in Lauderdale, Alabama for T. Staton (Looks like modern "Y" but mid 1800's "T") and his family with neighboring D. Waits (probably Darrel L. Waits 1807-1892). This is the only record of T. Staton, Franklin's father.
- 1850 Census in Lafayette, Mississippi. Franklin's father is missing; and therefore, presumed dead. Franklin L. Staton is recorded here with his grandfather John B. Waits, his mother Jennifer Staton born Waits and his siblings Marion, Evaline, Angeline, Caroline an Derril. Samuel Taylor from Mississippi is also included.
- 1860 Census in Bird Township, Jackson County, Arkansas (original is almost illegible). Franklin is married to Nancy Taylor of Lafayette, Mississippi and they have 3 month old twins Elizabeth and Nancy. Dolamon and David Dickey from Tennessee are also residing with them; I'm not sure at this point who they are.
2. Franklin L. Staton's first wife is Nancy P. Taylor (1841) born in Mississippi. She is the daughter of Isaac Taylor and Penelope Simmons. Coincidently Franklins's sister Elizabeth Angeline Staton marries Nancy's brother Matthew Lee Taylor in Mississippi in 1855. I have not found a record of Nancy and her two daughters after the 1860 Census. In 1867 Franklin marries Martha Ann Hooser (Hoosier); and therefore, at this point it is presumed Nancy and the daughters have died.
